River Zydeco Band

The music of the River Zydeco Band has evolved, as it befits a band with over 25 years of experience. It sounds more like a blend of styles, best described as Swamp-Rock without losing the Zydeco instrumentation, namely the characteristic beat, the use of accordion and rubboard.

Their successful album Down the Line (2016) already showed a deviation of the traditional Zydeco-path, creating a sound that appeals the purist as well as newcomers to the music. This album paved the way for the EP Birds (2019). Here you hear a new formation, with a female front and songs written by the guitarist/Hammondplayer Roy Koopmans. With three different songs, this EP has opened the doors to various festivals across Europe. Title song Birds has reached his way to the radiostations.
